Hurricnae Hunter aircraft play a vital role during hurricane season as they fly directly into the storms and dropping winds and taking measurements from inside the hurricane. These birds are going to be busy this season.

A different angle on monitoring solar activity! This satellite mission will offer advanced warning of solar activity by viewing a side of the sun from a different angle before that side rotates into view from Earth. As we were reminded the other week, solar events can affect our satellites, communications and terrestrial infrastructure. The more options we have to monitor and get advanced warning, the better. All signs point to a wild hurricane season. Now is the time to prepare. Hurricane Ian caused 161 deaths and $115 billion dollars in damage. I continue to revisit this one because it was one of the clear cut cases where Tropical Weather Analytics, Inc. Hurricane Hunter Satellites would have helped reduce the damages and likely loss of life. Ian was forecast to hit Tampa but ended up ripping through Fort Myers. Wrong location and not enough warning. Investing in prevention is exponentially cheaper than paying for clean-up and rebuild. As Climate Change continues to make weather weird and cost us more than ever before, we need to invest in improving forecasts and getting more stake holders that can share and integrate critical data.
