Thrifted Valentine’s Decor Ideas

First, I want to share a couple of recent thrift store finds that happen to be perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Thrifted Heart Hanging Basket

I was strolling the isles of GoodWill when I spied this cut heart-shaped hanging basket. It was filled with spanish moss and only $2.00.

Y’all know I couldn’t leave it behind. It’s the perfect farmhouse rustic decor I love.

All that was needed was a few red tulips to brighten it up and some red and white yarn to hang it over an old cabinet door.

Patchwork Quilt Heart

Another find was some cute patchwork quilt heart pillows. I use these great finds all year long, but they take center stage for Valentine’s decor.

Vintage Seed Packets

This is a DIY project from a couple of years ago, but I pull it out yearly. The Vintage Seed Packet and Moss Heart Garland is perfect decor from Valentine’s through summer.

Look for old seed packets or other vintage gardening images to make this easy garland.

Thrifted Milk Glass

I have an extensive collection of thrifted milk glass, which includes several vases.

To create Valentine’s decor, you only need to fill a vase with red or pink flowers.

I added red tulips to the vase surrounded by a paper heart garland and thrifted vintage bottles to the bathroom vanity for an easy and inexpensive Valentine’s vignette.

Thrifted Tablescape for Galentine’s Day Brunch

Planning a Galentine’s Brunch doesn’t have to break the bank. Here, thrifted vases hold Valentine’s Candy and a DIY place card. The dishes, glasses, tablecloths, napkins, and silverware are all thrift store finds. In addition, the cute centerpiece is just vintage milk glass bud vases and a milk glass cake stand.

Old Books or Music Pages

Another item that I collect regularly is old books and music pages. They come in handy for so many decor projects. Here are a few ways to use them for Valentine’s Decor.

Vintage Key, Thrifted Frame, and Old Book Page

First, this project is a combination of three thrifted finds.

Old keys are another item I’m always tempted to pick up if the price is right. In addition, a chippy old picture frame will usually find its way to my house.

Therefore, combining these three inexpensive thrifted finds is an easy DIY decor project and a great gift.

To make this paper heart garland, you only need old music sheets, red craft paper, and jute twine.

Cut the hearts with a silhouette cutting machine or by hand. Use a large needle to thread the jute twine and attach the hearts by running the threaded needle through the heart.

Cork Hearts

Another fun and inexpensive way to use old corks is to make this trio of cork hearts to be used for Valentine’s Day.

Vintage Buttons

Do you collect old buttons? I previously repurposed clothing and saved all the buttons to embellish my designs. Therefore, I have a lot of vintage buttons, but I still need to use them.

The next two ideas are on my list of projects I’d love to attempt.

Puffy Button Heart

My friend Michelle at Thistle Key Lane is so creative, and she recently made this Puffy Button Heart to add to a Valentine’s Day Cloche Vignette. I can see several ways to add this cute vintage button heart to your decor this season.

Scrap Fabric

I have shared several pillow tutorials using scrap fabrics. This heart scrap fabric pillow was my very first project.

This is an easy vintage-inspired project if you shop for fabrics or have a collection of leftover materials.

All you need is a pillow cover and a small amount of fabric. The options are unlimited.

Can you think of other ways to use vintage or thrifted finds to decorate for Valentine’s Day?

Here are a few simple ideas that I’ve added to my list but haven’t done yet.

  • Fill vintage jars with candy hearts
  • Add red and pink vintage buttons to a jar or bowl
  • Make heart-shaped gift tags from old music or book pages
  • Use vintage Valentine’s cards – string them together for a garland or add them to a large bowl.

I can’t wait to hear your ideas.
