These are some of my favorite DIY Christmas ornaments that I've made - there are full step by step instructions for all of them.

Thestring trees homemade Christmas ornamentsare probably the ones I'm proudest of, they just turned out so beautifully and they look great with LED candles inside them. They were a little fiddly to make, and the finished trees are a bit delicate, but I think that's part of what makes them beautiful.

Theclove orangessmell divine and are really simple to make. Thecinnamon dough ornamentsalso smell amazing. When you make them you'll want to eat them. (But please don't! Trust me they don't taste good.)

Advent Calendars

Do Advent calendars count as homemade Christmas ornaments? In a way I think they do, because they're something that you hang up in the house around Christmas time.

  • Origami Advent Calendar Pattern
  • Advent Calendar Wreath

The first one we made was theorigami Advent calendar. A great thing about that design is how quick it is to make. There's a simple origami fold for making the pockets that literally only takes a few seconds per pocket. And I think the final calendar turned out quite nicely.

TheAdvent peg wreath with chocolatesall around the outside proved to be too much temptation for us. Despite our best intentions I'm ashamed to say that all the chocolate disappeared well before the beginning of Advent. Oops. Members of our household have a bit of a sweet tooth.
