Granny stitch crochet blanket turned into granny square giraffe blanket (2024)

Do you love simple and easy patterns that you can just crochet while you are sitting in your couch, while watching your favourite Netfilx series and sipping your coffee or glass of wine then this pattern is designed just for you. In this blanket we used granny stitch which is very well known and there are endless color combinations that you can use. I read that there a are people that are afraid to try a granny square and this is a good start as you will fisrt make a circle and then make a granny stitch sqaure around it. The giraffe head is made with crochet circle and with just changing colors you can turn your giraffe into cow, zebra, bear, bunny. I will add some adjustment in the pattern bellow for colors that you can use for the different animals.

I used to design more complicated blanket patterns and then realized that they are not a good idea if we need a quick project that we can carry on with us on camping, vacation or out to the park. This blanket is simple and the pattern is easy to follow so it can be made as a quick gift for baby shower or as a Xmas gift.

If you are a lover of granny stitch this blanket is just for you.

Materials:

I used Stylecraft Special DK yarn in these colors:

Yellow- Special DK 1020 Lemon- 1/3 of a ball,

Blue – Special DK 1034 Sherbet,

Purple- Special DK 1082 Bluebell

Light purple- Special DK 1432 Wisteria

Green- Special DK 1316 Spring Green and white color

Crochet hook size 4,5mm- US hook size H-5mm

Special stitch- Cluster stitch- granny stitch – make 3 double crochet stitches in same stitch or chain space.

You can change the colors in the granny stitch part with whatever colors you like, you can even use variageted yarn.
